OMEGA-3

I know we hear about Omega-3's all the time.  But what's in it for me you ask?  Everything. In fact, it can change your attitude in just a couple of weeks!  Nothing fishy here, if you add only one thing to your health routine, make it Omega-3.

The  "Essential"  in Essential Fatty Acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6) means it's critical to  human health but can't be made by the body. A lack of the fatty acids can show up as dermatitis, a bumpy rash on the back of your arms and thighs, excess thirst, dry hair and nails, frequent urination, fatigue, joint pain,  and brain fog.

Get Essentially Happy

It's almost the fountain of youth for our heart, joints, skin and hair but Omega-3's most amazing benefit may be to our mental well being. A lack of this fatty acid is found in those with a tendency towards negative emotions, depression and violence.  Studies also show that low levels of Omega-3 may contribute to substance abuse, attention deficit, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.

Omega-3 changes your brain structure by increasing gray matter in the areas responsible for emotional arousal and regulation. The results are a mind and mood that are more stable and agreeable.

You're ok on Omega-6

The Standard American diet (S.A.D.) is rich in Omega-6 so no need to supplement here. But don't think of Omega-6 as the bad EFA. It's just as "essential" but is too abundant in the typical American diet, which is high in animal, "white" processed foods and oils such as corn and soy. In fact, it is so abundant that you could have an out-of-balance ratio; as much as 30 times more Omega-6 than Omega-3, if you eat foods common in Western society.  This type of imbalance leaves one vunerable to cancer, depression, inflammatory disease and heart degeneration. Another reason to supplement.

Sounds like the typical American diet leads to the typical American health concerns.
You can change that today just by adding fish or algae to your diet. And the easiest way is by taking supplements.

What are the Three in Omega-3?

1. ALA (linolenic acid)  2.  (DHA) Docosahexaenoic Acid   3. EPA (docosahexaenoic acid)

ALA
Found in flaxseed and nuts, especially walnuts, ALA is your best anti-oxidant friend. It neutralizes free radicals and detoxifies the liver, thereby protecting you from cancer, heart disease and other degenerative diseases.

DHA and EPA

Could your nerves, brain or vision use a helping hand?   These EFA's are for you.  The major structural components of all body tissue but especially the nerves, eyes and brain.  DHA and EPA makes being called a fat-head a compliment as a healthy brain is about 60% fat.  Studies show that they can also lower bad (LDL) cholesterol and increase good (HDL) cholesterol and are vital for heart health. DHA has been show to lower the risk of developing Alzheimer by 60 to 80 percent.

Fish are touted as a popular source of DHA and EPA but fish get their EFA from the marine algae they eat and then just pass it on to us.  Fear of mercury poisons and other toxins found in fish have lead many to fish oil supplements but these can have some unpleasant side effects such as belching, after taste, bad breath and even nausea. Don't skimp when shopping for these supplements. Make sure that you are only buying pharmaceutical grade to avoid any toxic effects.

Marine Algae aka spirulina is the only source of vegetarian Omega-3. Vitabase Health Supplements is your best source of Omega-3 supplements at super low prices.

Marine Algae is becoming the new Omega-3 source of choice.  This high grade, easily renewable, toxin and contaminate free source of EPA and DHA gives you all the benefits and none of the fishy effects.
