This week's birthdays girls are no cupcakes. Strong, smart and beautiful they are a testament to having it all.
Farrah Fawcett (2/2/1947) - 62. Sex symbol Fawcett shares birthdays with Brinkley. Farrah (who changed the spelling from Ferrah) started her career in TV commercials. In 1976, she starred as Jill Munroe in the popular show Charlie's Angels where her "Farrah hair" became an international hit. She posed nude in Playboy at the age of 50. Fawcett was married to Lee Majors for 9 years and had a long time relationship with Ryan O'Neal, which resulted in the birth of their son, Redmond. Thought to be just a pretty-face actress, Farrah proved her critics wrong in 1984, when she gave an acclaimed performance in the TV movie The Burning Bed, where she played a victim of domestic abuse, and again in 1989 in the Diane Downs story, Small Sacrifices. In 2006, she was successfully treated for anal cancer but in 2007, a malignant polyp was discovered. O'Neal has remained by Farrah's side since the diagnosis and accompanied her to Germany for treatment not available in the US. Best Line: God gave women intuition and femininity. Used properly, the combination easily jumbles the brain of any man I've ever met.
Vanessa Redgrave (1/30/1937) - 72. Highly acclaimed English actress in the theatrical Redgrave clan dynasty, including sister Lynn and brother Corin. Redgrave accolades include multiple best actress and supporting role awards; she continues to act in film. She has two actress daughters, Natasha Richardson and Joely Richardson and a writer/director son, Carlo Gabriel Nero. Redgrave was married to director Tony Richardson for 5 years in the 1960's and, after a 40 year relationship, married Franco Nero in 2006. She is an outspoken critic of America's and Britain's "War on Terror," a social activist for human rights and a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF. Best line: I think that any citizen can understand that you must raise your voice and do the best you can to speak out.
