Dr. Masaru Emoto is a water messenger. A Japanese researcher, doctor of alternative medicine and author of the book The Message from Water, Dr. Emoto's experiments show, through photographs, that thoughts, words and sounds affect the molecular structure of water.
The photos, taken under dark field microscopes and using high-speed photography, shows minute crystals formed in frozen water. Not so profound since we know that snowflakes do the same thing. But Dr. Emoto's studies reveal that vibrational energy, those thoughts and deeds, impact the crystal structure from the amazingly beautiful to the wickedly scary.
Fact or Voodoo
Obviously, we would rather nourish our bodies with fresh, clean water but can we do even more by increasing the vibrational quality of that water? Since an adult body is over 70% water and brain tissue is 85% water, this is a question worthy of a serious answer.
Skeptics call Dr. Emoto's findings pseudo-science, even witchcraft. According to Dr. Phillips Stevens, an anthropology Professor at the University at Buffalo in New York, Dr. Emoto's numerous followers are all suffering from "magical thinking."
We should all be so lucky to suffer this affliction in a world gone mad with wars, murders, greed and destruction of the very world that houses our existence. But let Dr. Stevens have his say, which is that this belief affliction is one of interconnectedness of all things through forces and powers that transcend both physical and spiritual connections.
I have no doubt that Dr. Stevens is a very learned man but what an odd concept to think that we are not all connected through forces and powers beyond us. The concept of disconnection and powers and forces held within and by humankind truly defines the ego of (some) men and women.
A human being is a part of a whole, called by us; universe... He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Albert Einstein.
There's Magic in That Water
Crystal clear and clean water will heal the troubled body and mind. Swamp water will make you very sick before it kills you. And like all humans and domestic creatures, treated with care and clarity water will thrive and treated with toxins and stagnation it will languish. That isn't magic, it's common sense and chemistry.
Your brain needs water - a lot of water. Clean, fresh water will perform magic on your mind. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated and aging increases the need for sufficient intake. Without proper intake or excess water loss the mind becomes confused, lethargic and plain cranky as the brain receives less blood. Just a 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy thinking, a decreased attention span and short-term memory loss. Besides thirst, signs of dehydration include fatigue, decreased urine output, dry eyes, lack of sweat, dizziness, muscle cramps and nausea.
If you're thirsty you are dehydrated.
An easy way to determine your water intake requirement is to divide your weight by two then by eight (for the number of ounces). So at 160 pounds you need 10 - 8oz cups of water per day. Depending on what you eat, you can get up to half of your water intake from your foods. Celery counts, Twinkies do not. Exercise, hot weather and certain medications increase your need by an average of 8-16oz. Likewise, other liquids can hydrate but you're only fooling yourself if you expect alcohol, soda or coffee to count towards your required intake.
Refresh your mind with the magic that is water. And go ahead and bless your water before taking a sip. A positive approach to living a healthy, happy life can't be scientifically proven; it can only be experienced. Cheers.
