Do you have a dream? Well then tomorrow is officially YOUR DAY.

National Dream Day is August 28.

Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning. Gloria Steinem

Make Your Own Plan on Dream Day

As we age, we can start thinking our dreams are over or that it's too late to reach our dreams. FALSE - that's not the anti-aging attitude. Every day is another day to plan your dream and make it happen. So let's get some planning in the works.

  • State the obvious. What's your dream? It's ok, go ahead say it out loud, write it down, give it some verbs, colors and details. Image it happening; seeing is believing if only in your head. Remember that everything that was ever created by man or woman first began as a thought.
  • Get strategic. What’s it going to take. Too many forego their dreams because it requires the third most feared thing in life: change (public speaking and dying are numbers one and two). Yes, you will have to give up something, if only the comfortable of the chair you are sitting in to get up off your butt and live your dream.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams!
Live the life you've imagined
. Thoreau

  • Think backwards. If you can't see the forest for the trees, get out of the forest. The path may seem too daunting to make your dream come true. Let's say you want to move to the South of France. Don't start with thinking you have to quit your job, sell your house, leave your family and friends (too scary); see yourself living in Corsica, the fourth largest island in the South of France, and "recall" how you got there. The steps you "took" will seem so small compared to the vast Mediterranean Sea.
  • Be there now. If anything will solidify your dream, it will the mental process of already being there. The process, also very anti-aging by the way,  will also help you to determine if you really want that dream after all. Not every dream is all it's cracked up to be.  If possible, take an actual vacation trip to your dream destination or read about or talk to those already living your dream.
  • Define what's stopping you. Ask yourself why not. Is it fear, fear of change, discouragement or just plain laziness. Don't be sucked into excuses such as being too old, not having the money or time or others "holding" you back. Once you know the real reason you aren't living your dream,  you can eliminate the obstacles.
  • Just do it. Any dream is possible if you are willing to act upon the possible. It may not be all you thought it was or maybe it will be even more.

Every dream you live gives you the anti-aging attitude
that will keep you young until your last breath.
