Sugar is aging you and making you fat.

According to the American Heart Association you are likely eating the equivalent of seven tablespoons of sugar daily. And most of that is coming from sugary soda at the cost of an extra 300 plus calories every day. No wonder obesity is rampant in the U.S. And not one teaspoon of that sugar is anti-aging you!

Stiffer By the Pound

As we age,  our bodies get stiffer due, in part, to lack of exercise but also due to a process known as cross-linking. When tissue molecules cross-link, they become stiff.  Studies show that concentrated sugar in the blood expedites the cross-linking process. By keeping your blood sugar levels stable, you help keep your tissues, joints and organs mobile and healthy.

We are a nation of sugar freaks and we are literally addicted to our sweets.  Every since the invention of the Twinkie,  we have abandoned fruit as our treat of choice.

There is a whole generation of fat young adults that can never recall when a fresh peach was a snack. Instead Generation X chooses candy, cookies and muffins as their afternoon pick me up. Worse still is Generation Y, those between the ages of 13 and 19, who are consuming nearly twelve tablespoons of sugar every day.

Food manufacturers have done a wonderful job of hiding sugar in everything they produce. They sneak it in under the radar as corn syrup, dextrose, fructose, and cane juice. It's mostly likely hiding in every processed food you eat.

Break the Sugar Habit

  • Admit you have a problem - it’s the first step to recovery and taking action.
  • Read labels and eat less processed foods.
  • Exercise - not only does it stabilize your blood sugar levels, it burns the buzz of sugar and leaves you wanting less.
  • Eat protein - protein lowers and stabilizes blood glucose, which will decrease your cravings.
  • Pick your sugar wisely - process sugar rushes into your bloodstream while fruits with vitamins, minerals and, most importantly fiber, has a slow and steady release of unprocessed sugar while still satisfying your sweet tooth.
  • Learn to cook with stevia, a healthy, high fiber sugar alternative.
  • Drink green tea or take green tea supplements - green tea is getting all the raves for its ability to stabilize blood sugar, which in turns suppresses your appetite and lowers your cravings. Green tea's powerful polyphenols antioxidants fight free radical damage, which provides powerful health benefits to your entire anti-aging system.

Come down off your sugar high and enjoy your best anti-aging attitude yet.
